The second-hand marketplace Members Express Frustration Regarding Sizing Modifications
Shoppers are voicing their frustration due to a modification that led to items being listed as the wrong size.
This online marketplace has altered its measurement guidelines for female and kids' apparel without notifying all users about the change.
Online Platforms Backlash
Countless users and merchants have taken to social media saying Vinted listings now show a modified sizing category than originally posted as a result of the reclassification.
The platform stated the updated approach better aligns with other platforms.
The platform has recommended to examine their items and update the measurements by hand when needed, causing user dissatisfaction.
Measurement Approach Changes
Earlier, the measurements included one number and one letter, such as S/8 or M/10.
The updated approach includes a letter and a range like S/UK 8-10.
With some products, the size labels have been reassigned - such as a large size was formerly size 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.
Shopper Experiences
Frankie Bridger, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.
Another user, located in Scotland, explained products she uploaded featuring size 14 markings were displaying on the service as size 20–22.
"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they may become frustrated," she said.
Required Changes
Charlotte Lunn, based in Derby, stated she felt frustrated due to the update requiring manual adjustment the sizing for "all her products".
"This situation is especially annoying, since I have chronic health issues and selling on Vinted has been paramount for me since losing part of my income," she stated.
Marketplace Information
The service features exceeding 100 million users, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has proved a popular alternative versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.
This represents another occasion where an unanticipated change within the service has received backlash: earlier, Vinted reversed a change concerning shipment methods following member complaints.
